Toyota Corolla: Spare Keys and Handover Checks
A missing Toyota Corolla key can become an expensive inconvenience after export. The number of keys, their functions and any replacement work should be agreed before final payment. This is especially useful for used vehicles, but new stock also needs an accessory check tied to the exact car being delivered.

Count working keys, not key shells
Ask the seller to demonstrate each supplied key separately using the normal procedure. Confirm remote locking, unlocking and starting as applicable to the installed system. Keep other keys away during a demonstration so the test is meaningful. A photograph of two key cases does not show whether both are functional or belong to the same vehicle.
Confirm the actual access equipment
Identify whether the Corolla has the claimed entry and start functions, and check the mechanical access arrangement described in its manual. Do not assume that a translated high-grade name guarantees smart entry. Replacement housings or aftermarket remotes should be disclosed. Record which functions are working instead of using an imprecise description such as complete original set.
Resolve missing keys through qualified service
Request a quote from an authorized or otherwise qualified provider for any required replacement and the appropriate handling of missing keys. Follow the documented ownership and security process; avoid informal workarounds. Confirm local service availability before accepting a discount. A cheap unprogrammed blank is not equivalent to a working, properly configured replacement.
Use a secure handover inventory
List key quantity and completed work in the delivery record, with identifying information sufficient for your receiving team. Keep sensitive access data separate from public photographs and general shipping messages. Demonstrate the final set before carrier handover and count it again on arrival. Retain invoices for legitimate replacement work with the vehicle's service file.

Questions before buying
Can a spare key be arranged after arrival?
Possibly, but confirm the exact local process and cost before purchase if one is missing.
Does a key photograph prove functionality?
No. Request a separate demonstration of each key and the functions relevant to the installed equipment.
